What they accept
Abyss & Apex publishes character-driven speculative fiction with a required speculative element — science fiction, fantasy, slipstream, dark fantasy, magical realism, and related modes — and does not publish horror. Fiction is read only during one-week windows each February and August, with submissions sent outside a window deleted unread. It pays USD 0.08 per word for stories up to 1,000 words and a flat USD 80 for longer stories up to 10,000 words, 30 days after publication.
