What they accept
Ember: A Journal of Luminous Things is a semiannual journal of fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction for readers of all ages, published by the nonprofit E&GJ Press; submissions for and by readers aged 10 to 18 are strongly encouraged. Its fiction call takes short stories up to 12,000 words and flash up to 1,500 through Submittable, pays 2 cents per word or $20 per work, whichever is more, for worldwide first publication rights in English, and charges no submission fee, though an optional $3 donation is suggested. The Fall 2026 window closed October 31, 2026; the next semiannual window runs March 1 to March 31, 2027.
