What they accept
The Pink Hydra is a South African small press that publishes a monthly zine of short stories and poetry; its short-story call takes character-driven tales of unreality with a speculative or unrealistic element, from 1,000 to 9,999 words, in monthly five-day windows, with the current window running 2-6 November 2026. It pays a flat $10 on acceptance for stories of 1,000 to 4,999 words and $20 for stories of 5,000 to 9,999 words, submissions go through Duosuma with an optional tip-jar donation, and a category may close early if flooded. Simultaneous submissions are allowed, and reprints are accepted under stated conditions, including that the story is not currently free to read online.
