What they accept
Shenandoah is Washington and Lee University's literary magazine. Its fiction call takes short stories and novel excerpts of under 8,000 words, opens on September 10 and January 15 each year, and stays open until the submission cap is met; the portal currently reads for other categories only, so the next fiction window opens January 15. Simultaneous submissions are considered, work must be previously unpublished in English, and the magazine pays all contributors as much as its budget allows, with payment details given on acceptance.
