What they accept
Common House Magazine is a volunteer-run literary magazine open to writers anywhere in the world, with up to a quarter of each issue reserved for University of Ottawa students. Its prose call takes one piece up to 3,000 words or two to three flash pieces up to 1,000 words each, leans literary while also publishing genre fiction such as fantasy and mystery, and requires original, unpublished work. Fall submissions run August 24 to November 30, 2026 through a Google Form; simultaneous submissions are accepted, contributors to seasonal issues are not currently paid, and responses take one to four months.
