What they accept
Southeast Review publishes literary fiction in its biannual issues and online, taking one short story of up to 7,500 words for a $3 reading fee, with free submissions for Black, Indigenous, and other writers of color and for currently or formerly incarcerated writers. It does not publish novellas or previously published work, rarely publishes short-shorts outside its contest, and accepts simultaneous submissions. It tries to respond within six months, after which writers may query, and pays an honorarium of an unstated amount from its contributor's fund, plus a copy for print contributors.
